Filming has finished on season two of The Umbrella Academy.

Stars of the superhero series confirmed the exciting news by posting videos and photos to their Instagram accounts, thanking the cast and crew for their all their hard work on the new series.

Sharing a photograph of himself alongside two members of the production team, Tom Hopper, who plays Luther Hargreeves (Number One), wrote: “Our crew on @umbrellaacad are some of the hardest working I’ve ever come across.

“They work insane hours to help make the show what it is. We are two days away from the end of shooting season 2, and this crew have done us immensely proud. We can’t thank you enough for the hard work you all put in.

“Round of applause for all the guys like these two, who are the real family of superheroes.”

Co-star Justin Min, who plays Ben Hargreeves (aka The Horror), also marked a wrap on the new series by praising everyone who helped on it.

Posting a selfie, he said: “And just like that, Ben and I are headed home. A huge thank you to our cast and crew, who’ve become a second family to me the last six months; I’ll miss seeing your beautiful faces everyday.

“And Toronto, I fall more in love with you every year – especially when I can run away right before winter gets bad. I can’t wait for you guys to see what we’ve been working on. Season 2 is gonna be wild.”

David Castañeda, otherwise known as Diego Hargreeves or Number two, joined his fellow cast members in updating fans on progress.

He posted a clip of him dancing to Des’ree’s classic 90s hit You Gotta Be, with the caption: “This will last 30 seconds…update. Umbrella is wrapped. The crew is amazing and I’m gonna sleep for a full day or so.”

The Umbrella Academy is an adaptation of the comic series of the same name, created by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, and stars the likes of Ellen Page, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman and Mary J. Blige

It revolves around a band of ‘estranged siblings with extraordinary powers’, who are reunited by their father’s death – a mystery that they must solve together.

Producer Steve Blackman – who is returning for the second season – described the show as ‘a dysfunctional family with a body count’ in a press junket for the first series.

A release date is yet to be confirmed but we will be sure to let you know as soon as it is.
